After spending ten years in another major Turkish law firm, Mr. Okan Demirkan joined Kolcuoğlu Demirkan Koçaklı as a named partner, bringing with him his substantial experience in energy and infrastructure, arbitration and litigation. He currently leads the Firm’s dispute resolution and energy practices.
Mr. Demirkan provides legal assistance to clients in both the consultancy and dispute resolution aspects of anti-corruption and anti-bribery. Over the course of his career of more than 15 years, Mr. Demirkan dealt with almost all ministries and regulatory authorities, including the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation, Civil Aviation Authority, Competition Authority, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority and Energy Market Regulatory Authority.
Mr. Demirkan is a co-author of the chapter for Turkey in the 4th edition of the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Review. Since early 2015, Mr. Demirkan has been a member of the board of directors of the Ethics and Reputation Society (TEİD) (www.teid.org), Turkey’s leading civil society institution in the area of anti-corruption and ethics.
